Friendly Staff

Our Key People

We are lucky to have such a highly-skilled, experienced and friendly staff team at Princecroft. Staff work in conjunction with a group of volunteer governors with representatives from parents, staff, the local community and the Local Authority.

Early Years Teaching Team

Mrs Harley

Nursery Teacher

Mrs Harley is one of our more experienced teachers. She currently leads EYFS and Art.  She has had extensive input into curriculum design as a whole and has delivered training for other teachers in Sounds~Write and reading. Mrs Harley teaches for 4 days in our nursery and has spent the last 12 years working across Key Stage 1 and EYFS at Princecroft. Mrs Harley has a BA (Hons) in Education Studies and Art, a PGCE Primary Years 5-11 and a Master of Arts in Educational Practice.
 
Miss Penney

Nursery Teaching Assistant

Miss Penney is a teaching assistant in The Hive Nursery with our youngest children. Her role involves taking care of the children in all aspects of their day, providing rich learning opportunities, and observing them in their play. She identifies children’s next steps in order for them to reach the next stage in their development. Miss Penney has worked in another school before Princecroft for 22 years and has worked across Early Years and Key Stage 1. Miss Penney is qualified to Level 3 and has a BTEC in Childhood Studies.

Mrs Carpenter

Nursery Teaching Assistant

Mrs Carpenter has been part of the Princecroft community for over 16 years. During this time, she has worked across most year groups, primarily supporting children on a one-to-one basis with special educational needs. She now works in The Hive Nursery, supporting the youngest members of Princecroft as they begin their learning journey.
She holds an NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Supporting Teaching and Learning and a NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Early Years Education. Mrs Carpenter is passionate about supporting children’s development through play, exploration, and daily routines. Her role includes supervising and engaging children in a range of activities that promote their development, confidence, independence, and social skills.
Mrs Carpenter is trained in Paediatric First Aid and Food Hygiene, and has completed a Thrive®-approved course to become an Emotional Health Practitioner. She is also Sounds-Write trained, enabling her to support early literacy and phonics development effectively.
Miss Whatley

Nursery Room Leader

Miss Whatley the Room Leader in Bumbletots, where she works with children aged 2–3. She has been part of Bumbletots since it first opened and have also worked within The Hive. Alongside Mrs Harley, she helps to plan and deliver engaging learning experiences and high-quality provision in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.

Miss Whatley has worked in nursery settings for the past five years and is passionate about supporting young children’s early development and helping them to thrive through play and exploration. She has completed a range of professional development opportunities, including Early Excellence courses to enhance our nursery environment, as well as Makaton and speech and language training to support communication and inclusion.

She holds a BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Studies and a Level 3 Early Years Educator qualification from the University of Plymouth.

Mrs Garrett

Mrs Lunn

Nursery Teaching Assistant

Mrs Lunn is a dedicated member of the Princecroft Primary School community, working as a Midday Supervisor Assistant. She has been volunteering at the school for approximately eight years on and off, offering her time and support wherever needed. She does not hold formal qualifications or prior professional experience in a school setting yet.

Mrs Pearce

Nursery Teaching Assistant

Mrs Pearce works at Bumbletots as a Midday Supervisor Assistant, helping with lunchtime duties and supporting the children to have a happy and positive experience during their break time.

Prior to her position at Princecroft, she didn’t have any previous experience in a school setting, but she has always been passionate about working with children and supporting their early development. Mrs Pearce is currently studying with The Open University, working towards a Diploma in Higher Education in Primary Years (ages 3-12), which is helping her to build knowledge and skills in education and child development.

Miss Ayliffe

Nursery Teaching Assistant

Miss Ayliffe has over 4 years experience in early years. She is a a nursery assistant in Bumbletots nursery room and holds a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner qualification.
